The Management of Life and Indeterminate Sentence Prisoners in Northern Ireland

Abstract

The CJI inspection report on the management of life and ICS prisoners was published in July 2012 and made three strategic and eleven operational recommendations for improvement. There have been a number of significant developments in the NIPS since then and progress has been made in respect of the majority of the recommendations. This follow-up review found that one of the three strategic recommendations had been achieved and of the operational recommendations, four have been achieved; six have been partially achieved and one not achieved
